(UWECBlugolds.com) - Two UW-Eau Claire women's soccer players have earned National Soccer Coaches Association of American All-Region honors while the 2008-09 team earned an NSCAA Academic Award. Megan Hillesheim (Jr.-Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) led the Blugolds with a first team All-North Region selection. As the Blugolds' most valuable defender, she was named to the All-WIAC Team this season and was part of a defense that held opponents to 169 shots and 28 goals while the Blugolds tallied 349 and 50, respectively. She also picked up four assists. Alli Kishaba (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) was recognized with a third team honor. She earned team MVP honors this season while also being named the All-WIAC Team. Kishaba started 19 games and finished with three goals and two assists. The Blugolds were also honored with a team academic award for the 2008-09 academic year. To be eligible, the team must post a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Blugolds recorded a 3.39 GPA on their way to receiving the award for the eighth time in nine years. UW-Eau Claire was the only WIAC school to be recognized while UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee were the only other women's teams from the UW System to be honored. |
