Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball To Host Oshkosh Posted: Monday, December 6, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The 20th-ranked and undefeated UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will host 6th-ranked and undefeated UW-Oshkosh Wednesday with first place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on the line. The Blugolds trail in the all-time series with a 26-36 record against the Titans. Eau Claire won in Oshkosh in the first meeting last 57-53 but fell at home 63-60 allowing the Titans to hit 50 percent from the field. Eau Claire faced off against Oshkosh in the conference semifinals but struggled from the field shooting a season-low 21.6 percent from the field and allowing Oshkosh to hit 51.1 percent in losing 63-34. The Blugolds come into this matchup 7-0 on the season winning by an average of nearly 23 points a game. Eau Claire beat the 9th-ranked UW-Stevens Point 74-45 Saturday holding the Pointers to only 29.6 percent shooting while shooting 53.4 percent on their end of the floor. Eau Claire has used a balanced offense early in the season with Michelle Burns (Fr.-Eau Claire/North) and Jessica Dickey (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) leading the team in scoring at 11.6 points a game. Rachel Becker (Jr.-Gilmanton) has been the team's catalyst scoring 11.4 points per game and leading the conference in assists at 5.7 a game and the team in steals with 21. The Titans come into the game 6-0 with an average margin of victory of nearly 32 points. Oshkosh is coming off an 84-57 win over UW-La Crosse in which they shot 55 percent from the field and held the Eagles to only 31 percent shooting. Oshkosh also uses a balanced attack with five players averaging at least seven points a game. Brittany Herrick leads the Titans in scoring at 12.2 points a game while shooting 60 percent from the field. Herrick is second on the team in rebounds pulling down 5.8 per game. Both teams are evenly matched. Eau Claire is first in the conference in scoring at 76.6 while Oshkosh is third at 75.2 points per game. The Titans lead the conference in scoring defense allowing only 43.5 points a game while the Blugolds are fourth at 53.7 per game. Both teams shoot a high percentage from the field with Oshkosh leading the conference at 47.4 percent followed by Eau Claire at 44.6 percent. The Blugolds leads the conference in assists at nearly 20 a game while Oshkosh is second at 17 a game. Eau Claire and the Titans both take care of the ball with the Blugolds leading the conference in assist to turnover margin and Oshkosh second.
