Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Swimming & Diving Narrowly Defeated by La Crosse By: Matt Troge, Sports Information Student EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team was narrowly defeated by UW-La Crosse today at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds earned 118.5 points total while La Crosse received 123.5. Eau Claire recorded six first place finishes on the day along with a number of other top-three finishes. Nicole Dorvinen (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) led the Blugolds in finishes as she took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:52.72 and first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.07. Casey Preissel (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) got first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.57. Jamie Olson (So.-Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) notched a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.60 while Abby Hinz (Fr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) grabbed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.89. The Blugold team of Hannah Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.), Julia Olson (So.-Faribault, Minn.), Ann Grossklaus (Sr.-Rib Mountain, Wis./Wausau West) and Preissel also snagged a first place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:00.06. The Blugolds will take nearly a month off before heading to San Diego January 11, 2010 to compete in the Coronado Island Pentathlon Meet. Events are slated to begin at 9 a.m. |
