Thu, Dec 5, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Splits Series with Concordia By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director CEDARBURG, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - After falling 3-2 to Concordia University (Wis.) last night, the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team picked up a 3-2 victory today against the Falcons at Ozaukee Ice Center. The Falcons took the early lead as they scored just 44 seconds into the contest. It took the Blugolds a period to even the score out, as Christine Dickinson (Jr.-Layton, Utah/Shattuck-St. Mary's) scored on a power-play at 8:33 in the second with an assist from Rita Simones (Jr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul). Less than seven minutes later, Concordia went back on top with an even-strength goal from Sarah Luberda. In the third period, Kristin Faber (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) gave the Blugolds two more goals, one at 4:02 and the eventual game-winner at 11:30. Beth Dittrich (Sr.-Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) and Jackie McKay (So.-Franklin Park, Ill./East Leyden) assisted on the first goal while Taylor Jenkins (So.-Austin, Minn.) assisted on the second. Faber finished the game with six of the Blugolds' 37 shots, four in the third period alone. The Falcons finished with just 20 shots and Nicole Lence (Jr.-St. Paul Park, Minn./Park) stopped 18 of them as she played the entire game between the pipes for Eau Claire. She is now 3-2 on the season. The Blugolds will play again next weekend against Marian University at Hobbs Ice Center. The puck will hit center ice at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. |
