Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Johnston Picks up Three Wins at UW-La Crosse Duals By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director LA CROSSE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - While the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team fell three times against nationally ranked opponents today, Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) recorded three wins at the Holiday Inn Express UW-La Crosse Duals at Mitchell Hall. Johnston opened the day with a 2-1 win over Cornell College's Jacob Schwebke at 149 pounds. Against St. John's University, he secured a major decision (9-1) victory facing Cody Goldschmidt. To end the day, he picked up a win by forfeit against North Central College. Against 10th-ranked Cornell College, Eau Claire fell 39-3 while falling to fifth-ranked St. John's 40-4 and ninth-ranked North Central 37-6. Today was the Blugolds' last competition before the winter break. Eau Claire will be back on the mat January 3 for a 2 p.m. match in Minneapolis against Augsburg College. |
