CEDARBURG, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - While the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team went up 2-0 in the first period against Concordia University (Wis.), the Blugolds were unable to hold on and fell 3-2 at Ozaukee Ice Center tonight.

The Blugolds (3-4-1, 1-2-0 NCHA) started the game well with an even-strength, unassisted goal from Beth Dittrich (Sr.-Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) just 1:27 into the contest.

Eau Claire then went up by two when Kristin Faber (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) scored at 11:33 in the first with assists from Jackie McKay (So.-Franklin Park, Ill./East Leyden) and Kelli Johnson (Jr.-Farmington, Minn.) on a power-play.

The Falcons (4-3-0, 1-2-0 NCHA) were able to close the gap to just one by the end of the first period with a goal of their own. They then went on to scored two more unanswered goals, one just over a minute into the second and the eventual game-winner at 7:10 in the third.

Concordia finished with 27 shots while Eau Claire had 25. The Blugolds were 1-for-8 on the power-play while the Falcons committed eight penalties and Concordia was 0-for-6 on the power-play as the Blugolds had six penalties.

Nicole Lence (Jr.-St. Paul Park, Minn./Park) played 58:27 in the goal tonight for Eau Claire and stopped 24 shots while allowing three goals.

The loss was just the third time Eau Claire fell to the Falcons, with the two other times coming in 2000. The Blugolds are now 5-3-1 all-time against the Falcons.

The Blugolds will try and even out the weekend series when the two teams take the ice in Cedarburg at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow.
