Thu, Dec 5, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Dickinson Records Hat-Trick as Blugolds Beat Adrian By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Christine Dickinson (Jr.-Layton, Utah/Shattuck-St. Mary's) scored a hat-trick as the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team defeated Adrian College (Mich.) 7-2 at Hobbs Ice Center tonight. The Blugolds avenge a 6-3 loss they suffered against Adrian last night and improve to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). Adrian falls to 1-5-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in NCHA play. This is only the second time in program history the Blugolds have defeated Adrian, improving to 2-3-1 all-time. Eau Claire got on the board in tonight's contest first with Meghan Lorenz (Jr.-Minnetonka, Minn./Wayzata) scoring her first goal of the season at 16:47 in the first period with assists from Shannon Nelson (Sr.-Blaine, Minn.) and Rita Simones (Jr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul). The Blugolds then went on a scoring-spree as they scored three goals in both the second and third periods. Dickinson recorded her first goal at 2:53 in the second on a power-play but Adrian answered less than four minutes later to make the score 2-1. Dickinson then added another goal to put the Blugolds back up by two less than two minutes later and Kristin Faber (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) scored with less than two minutes left in the period on a power-play to put the Blugolds back up by three at the end of the second. Adrian came out and scored quickly in the third, finding the back of the net at 29 seconds, but it took Kelli Johnson (Jr.-Farmington, Minn.) just over six more minutes to get the goal back for Eau Claire on another power-play. Dickinson then scored her third goal of the game at 8:25 to give Eau Claire the 6-2 lead and Toni Simones (So.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) added the final goal on a power-play with just over two minutes to go. The Blugolds were 4-for-11 tonight on the power-play while Adrian was 1-for-6. There were a lot of penalties this evening with Adrian committing 12 and Eau Claire committing seven. Adrian had the advantage in shooting as they led 35-30. Nicole Lence (Jr.-St. Paul Park, Minn./Park) played the entire 60 minutes in the goal for Eau Claire and recorded 33 saves. She is now 2-1 on the season. The Blugolds will have next weekend off and will be back in action on December 4 for a weekend series at Concordia University (Wis.). The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. Friday night. |
