Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Hockey Comes Back Late To Tie Stout Posted: Saturday, December 4, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey player Rob Ouimette (Sr. -Iron Bridge, ONT/Leamington District) scored two goals in the last 10 minutes of the third period to erase a two-goal deficit and give the Blugolds a 2-2 tie against UW-Stout here tonight at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds move to 7-4-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in both Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play while the Blue Devils move to 7-3-3 on the season and 0-0-2 in the NCHA and WIAC. The two teams skated to a scoreless tie until late in the first period, when Kyle Crable gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead with 2:27 remaining in the period. Luke Schroeder assisted on the goal. The scored remained 1-0 until 7:24 into the second period, when Joe Edin made it a two goal Stout lead on a Blue Devil power play. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, Ouimette put Eau Claire back in the game with his first goal of the night. Dave Coleman (So.-Whitby, ONT/Leo J. Austin) brought the puck into the Stout zone on a 2-on-2 breakaway. At the last possible moment he fired it into the three-man crowd in front of the net, where Ouimette deflected it into the back of the net to cut the deficit in half.
The Blugolds will be back in action Friday night when they travel to Stevens Point to battle the Pointers. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. - DN - |
