Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Swimming & Diving Beats UW-Oshkosh By: Matt Troge, Sports Information Student OSHKOSH, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team defeated the UW-Oshkosh Titans at Albee Hall today. The Blugolds earned 180 points total while the Titans recorded 55 points. Eau Claire finished with 11 first place finishes in the 13 competitions, with a number of other top-three finishes. The 200-yard medley relay team of Abby Hinz (Fr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata), Ann Grossklaus (Sr.-Rib Mountain, Wis./Wausau West), Missy Kleist (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) and Hannah Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) took first place with a time of 1:54.18. Kirsten Lickel (So.-Madison, Wis./East) took the top spot in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:39.67, while Casey Preissel (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.54. Megan Finley (Jr.-Waunakee, Wis.) notched a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.46 while Nicole Dorvinen (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) took first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:40.78. Jamie Olson (So.-Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) won the 200-yard butterfly competition with a time of 2:17.97 and Julia Olson (So.-Faribault, Minn.) took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.95. Hinz and Dorvinen both grabbed first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.34 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.18, respectively. On the diving side, Katrina Fitzgerald (Fr.-Farmington, Minn.) took the top spot in the one-meter diving competition with 213 points and the three-meter diving competition with 196.55 points. The Blugolds will be back home for their next meet next Saturday at McPhee as they take on UW-River Falls. Events are slated to begin at 1 p.m. |
