Volleyball Selected to NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's volleyball team has been selected to compete in the 2009 NCAA Division III Championship, NCAA officials announced today.
The Blugolds will be part of an eight-team regional that will be contested at UW-Oshkosh. The tournament will take place this Thursday through Saturday (Nov. 12-14) at Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh.
The Blugolds, who finished second in the WIAC Tournament this past weekend, hold a 30-7 overall record and will face St. Olaf College (Minn.), which finished in second place in the MIAC Tournament and has a 27-4 overall record. Eau Claire and St. Olaf will compete at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The Blugolds are making their 12th overall appearance in the NCAA Championship.
The other matches on the opening night of the regional in Oshkosh will be UW-Whitewater vs. University of St. Thomas (Minn.), Luther College (Iowa) vs. College of St. Benedict (Minn.), and UW-Oshkosh vs. St. Norbert College.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and final of the NCAA Championship will be played at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center in University Heights, Ohio Nov. 19-21.
