EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team started off hot and never cooled in the WIAC Tournament semifinal. The team recorded a 4-0 win over UW-River Falls at Bollinger Fields today.

The Blugolds outshot the Falcons 20-6 in Thursday's matchup. Eau Claire committed seven fouls to River Falls' eight and took eight corner kicks to four from the Falcons. Emily Kidd (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) defended the goal the entire game for the Blugolds, recording four saves and allowing no goals.

Katie Richter (Fr.-Waukesha, Wis./West) got the Blugold offense started early, scoring her sixth goal of the season off a Shyla Gilbertson (Fr.-Waunakee, Wis.) assist at the 2:10 mark. Ten minutes later, Alli Kishaba (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) scored her third goal of the season to put the Blugolds up 2-0 and at 29:10, a Richelle Shannon (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) kick bounced off the head of a River Falls defender and into the goal, giving UW-Eau Claire a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half. At 57:26 in the second period, Kishaba assisted Gilbertson for her 10th goal of the year.

The Blugolds improve to 10-7-2 on the year while the Falcons end their season with a 9-10-2 record. Eau Claire is now 7-1 all-time against the Falcons in WIAC Tournament play.

With the win, the team advances to the WIAC Championship to face UW-Stevens Point, which went undefeated in conference play this year. Stevens Point defeated UW-Whitewater 2-1 today in the other WIAC semifinal to advance to the championship game. The Blugolds fell earlier this season to the Pointers in Stevens Point by a margin of 3-1. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Point.
