Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Swimming & Diving Competes in Double Dual Meet By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director ST. CLOUD, Minn. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team competed in a double dual meet this weekend against St. Cloud State and UW-Stevens Point. The Blugolds fell just short to UW-Stevens Point, 162.5-136.5, and also came up short against St. Cloud 199-100. Eau Claire had four first place finishes on the day. Julia Olson (So.-Faribault, Minn.) also performed well and took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.43 and first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.30. Her time in the 50-yard event was just two-tenths of a second away from a "B"-cut qualifying time for the national meet. Nicole Dorvinen (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) took the top spot in both the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly. She finished with times of 10:54.06 and 2:11.53, respectively. Eau Claire also did well in the 400-yard freestyle relay, taking second place with a time of 3:40.97. Olson, Ann Grossklaus (Sr.-Rib Mountain, Wis./Wausau West), Casey Preissel (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) and Megan Finley (Jr.-Waunakee, Wis.) competed in the event. The Blugolds will have next weekend off and will next compete November 14 at UW-Oshkosh. |
