Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Day One of the WIAC Tennis Championship In the Books By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director MADISON, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team competed in day one of the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship today at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Megan Born (So.-Antigo, Wis.) and Taylor Heltne (Fr.-Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) made it the farthest at the championship, winning round one and two of the No. 3 doubles competition. The duo will compete in the championship match tomorrow against Whitewater's Amy Siemon and Kelly Rutkowski. Born, Erin Welch (Sr.-Tomah, Wis.), Jillian Horner (Fr.-Middleton, Wis.) and Heltne all won first round singles' matches and will now play in the second round tomorrow. Gina Dahl (Sr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) and Brenna McCormick (Sr.-Greendale, Wis.) dropped their first round singles' matches and will play for fifth place on Sunday. The final day of competition will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday. |
