Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Swimming & Diving Starts Season Friday By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team will open the 2009-10 season Friday at home. The Blugolds return 11 letterwinners from last year's squad while a total of 23 student-athletes make up the team. Eau Claire finished fourth at the WIAC Championship last year and five swimmers are back who finished a number of events in fifth place or better. Matt Schultz (Sr.-Oakdale, Minn./North) led the way at the conference meet for the Blugolds a season ago has he finished fifth or better in five events while Tommy Dahl (Jr.-Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) was fifth or better in three. While the Blugolds open competition at the McPhee Physical Education Center against Minnesota State University-Mankato tomorrow at 5 p.m., they will also be at home two weeks later for a diving meet with Stevens Point and St. Cloud State. The Blugolds will host four more home meets, once each month between December and February before the conference championship February 11-13. The national meet is set to be contested March 17-20 at the University of Minnesota. |
