(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is in the lead at the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship at Northern Bay Golf Resort & Marina by 32 strokes going into the final day of competition. The Blugolds finished with 330 strokes on the second day on the par-73 course. The team now has a two-day total of 646 strokes. UW-Whitewater is in second with 678 and UW-Stout is in third with 702. Two-time defending conference champion UW-Stevens Point finished day two with 703 strokes, good for fourth place. Eau Claire's Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) and Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) remain in first and second place, respectively, but switched places from day one. Maurer finished with 77 strokes on both days for a total of 154, while Wagner, who was in first yesterday, shot 75 on the first day and 84 on day two, for a combined total of 159. Also in the hunt for the Blugolds is Torie Ives (Sr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild), who shot 166 thus far, tying for eighth place. Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) finished the second day with a combined total of 167 and took 10th, while Jamie Hauser (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) shot 176, good for 16th place. The tournament will conclude Sunday. |
