Fri, Nov 14, 2025 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Falls to Whitewater, Sweeps Edgewood By: BJ Pickard, Sports Information Student EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team competed in a triangular Saturday, losing to UW-Whitewater 8-1 and defeating Edgewood College (Wis.) 9-0 at the Olson Tennis Courts. In the first match of the day, on the indoor courts, the doubles team of Megan Born (So.-Antigo, Wis.) and Taylor Heltne (Fr.-Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) defeated Whitewater's team of Amy Siemon and Kathleen Kappel 8-2 for the No. 3 doubles victory. Whitewater took the rest of the matches. In the afternoon, however, Eau Claire came back strong. Gina Dahl (Sr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) won No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Born took No. 2 doubles 6-1, 6-0. Erin Welch (Sr.-Tomah, Wis.) won at No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-0 while Jillian Horner (Fr.-Middleton, Wis.) won No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Michelle Reinders (Jr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) won No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Gretchen Bachmeier (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) took No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-0. In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Dahl and Courtney Lynne (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won 8-0, while Born and Heltne took No. 2 8-4. Emily Hiebl (So.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Emily Knudson (So.-Delano, Minn.) also won at No. 3 doubles 8-0. The Blugolds face off with UW-River Falls at the McPhee Physical Education Center on tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. |
