(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is tied for first out of 14 teams after round one of the NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State Mustang Invite at Marshall Golf Club. The Blugolds shot 317 today to tie for first with Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.). Upper Iowa University is in third place with 321 strokes while the University of Nebraska-Omaha is in fourth with 322. Individually, Concordia-St. Paul's Anne Martin and Upper Iowa's Jill Preeshl lead the 97-golfer field with 75 strokes (+3). Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) is leading the Blugolds and is in third place with 77 strokes. Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) and Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) each shot 78 today and are tied for fourth place with six others. Jamie Hauser (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) finished round one with 84 strokes, tied for 40th, while Sara Mattes (So.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) is tied for 49th with 86. Two Blugolds also competed as individuals today. Katie Ecker (Fr.-Hudson, Wis.) is currently tied for 18th place with 80 strokes and Maggie Lattery (So.-Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) tied for 23rd with 81. Tomorrow the teams will wrap up action at the Mustang Invite. Golfers will begin teeing off at 9 a.m. for a shotgun start. |
