WHEATON, Ill. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The 16th-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's volleyball team went a perfect four-for-four this weekend at the Wheaton Invitational Tournament at King Arena.

The Blugolds (14-2) took the first match of the tournament Friday against Lakeland College (Wis.) 3-0 with set scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23. Emily Zupon (Jr.-Antigo, Wis.), who won all-tournament honors, and Danielle Lucia (Jr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) led the Blugolds with 10 kills apiece, while Emily Neave (Fr.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and Cassie Hunt (Sr.-Chippewa Falls, WI/McDonell) both added 14 digs. Neave also pitched in 29 of the team's 34 assists. The team had six blocks in the match.

In match two, the Blugolds got all they could handle from Benedictine University (Ill.). The match went to five sets, with the Blugolds coming out on top, 3-2. Eau Claire took the first two sets 25-18, 25-21, but Benedictine came back 24-26, 21-25 in the next two. However, the Eau Claire attack would prove to be too much, as the Blugolds won the fifth set 15-12. Liz Amici (So.-Whitewater, Wis.) posted a team-high 14 kills, while Blair Murphy (Jr.-Hermantown, Minn.) added 18 digs. Neave earned 42 assists in the match.

On Saturday, the Blugolds defeated the University of Chicago 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-13. Rachel Ver Voort (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Middleton) had a match-high nine kills, while Murphy posted 17 digs and Neave added another 26 assists. The Blugolds recorded seven blocks in the game.

To finish out the tournament, the Blugolds faced off with Wheaton College (Ill.). Wheaton took the first set 25-23, but Eau Claire stormed back to take the next three, winning 25-11 in the second set, 25-21 in the third and 25-22 in the fourth to take the match 3-1. Amici and Zupon collected 15 kills each, while Murphy and Neave added 17 digs apiece. Neave also recorded 43 assists in the Blugolds final win of the weekend.

The Blugolds travel to UW-Oshkosh next Friday, Oct. 2 for a showdown with the Titans. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
