(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in second place overall in the 20-team Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic that ended after two days of play. The Blugolds' score after the second day was 650, after scoring 324 on Saturday and 326 today. Six strokes ahead of Eau Claire was first place team was Washington University-St. Louis. William Woods University placed third overall with a stroke count of 656 while Olivet College followed with a score of 657. Host Illinois Wesleyan finished the tournament in fifth place with a score of 661. Individually, Jessica Urban of UW-Stevens Point remained the leader for Saturday and today with scores of 72 and 74, respectively, giving her a total score of 146. The Blugolds' highest finisher individually was Jamie Hauser (So.-Hartland, Wis.) who tied for ninth place with an overall score of 161. Torie Ives (Sr.-Osseo, Wis.) followed Hauser with a score of 162 and tied Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.), the Blugolds' first round leader, for 11th place. Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn.) tied for 18th place with a score of 165 while Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, WI/Onalaska) ended the tournament tied for 37th with a score of 170. Blugolds golfing as individuals today were Lauren Gault (So.-Shorewood, Wis.) and Katie Swift (Jr.-Onalaska, Wis.). Gault finished up the tournament tied for 27th with 167 strokes, while Katie Swift shot a 170 for both days and tied for 37th place. The Blugolds will be teeing off again next Saturday for the Mustang Division II Invitational in Marshall, Minn. The tournament will be the final event before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship, scheduled for October 9-11. |
