Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Golf Kicks off Season Saturday By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team is set for the 2009-10 season. Eau Claire will kick off the season at the Augsburg College Invite on Saturday. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with both rounds being played in Ham Lake, Minnesota The Blugolds return a strong group this year. Six out of the top seven players from a season ago will be back on this year's team. Leading the group is Ryan Grip (Jr.-Wausau, Wis.), who finished last season with the lowest average on the team with 77.9 strokes per round. He finished in the top five golfers in two tournaments last year. While Eau Claire returns six out of its eight letterwinners from last year, there are a total of 12 on this year's squad; three seniors, two juniors, six sophomores and one freshman. The Blugolds will compete in five tournaments this fall, with their annual Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate Invite set for Sept. 27-28. They will wrap up the fall portion of the season with the three-day Gustavus Adolphus Twin Cities Classic, Oct. 10-12. |
