(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team resides in second place in the 21-team field after the first round of the Doug Georgianni Memorial Blugold Invite held today at Mill Run Golf Course. With a stroke count of 313, the Blugolds are nipping at the heals of first place leader Gustavus Adolphus, which scored 306 today. The UW-Eau Claire Gold team sits in third place behind the Blugolds' first team with a score of 320 while the College of St. Benedict is in fourth place with a stroke count of 329. On the individual side of the event, Gustavus Adolphus' Kali Griggs leads the pack with a score of 73. The Blugolds' top golfer was Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn.)who is tied for third place individually with a score of 77. Tied for fifth place individually was the Blugolds' Sara Mattes (So.-La Crosse, Wis.) who is one stroke behind Maurer. The next best finishers were Torie Ives (Sr.-Osseo, Wis.)and Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) who tied for eighth place with scores of 79. The top two finishers for the UW-Eau Claire Gold team also tied for eighth. Lauren Gault (So.-Shorewood, Wis.) and Jamie Hauser (So.-Hartland, Wis.) led the Gold team with scores of 79. The Blugolds will finish up the tournament tomorrow at the Wild Ridge Golf Course. Golfers will begin teeing off at 7:30 a.m. |
