Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Anderson Team To Gather Sept. 12 By: Tim Petermann, Athletics Consultant EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Players from the 27 UW-Eau Claire men's basketball teams coached by Ken Anderson from 1968 through 1995 will gather for a reunion in Eau Claire September 12. The event is being coordinated by the UWEC Alumni Association and is open to the public. The day will begin with a 9 a.m. breakfast in Zorn Arena. For those interested, golfing will take place at Wild Ridge Golf Course with tee times between 11:40 a.m. and 1 p.m. The day will conclude with an evening banquet at the Plaza Hotel & Suites with a social hour at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and a program at 7 p.m. Each of the events can be attended separately and reservations can be made by calling the alumni association office at 715 836-3266. Adult reservations are $10 for the breakfast, $48 for the golf which includes a cart and $20 for the evening banquet. There is a reduced meal rate for children ages 5-12. Individuals who sign up for one or more of the Saturday events are invited to an informal social gathering at 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 11) at The Plaza Hotel-Two Rivers 2 room. Anderson ranks among the all-time coaching greats in college basketball for winning percentage alongside Adolph Rupp and John Wooden. During his 27-year Blugold career, he posted a 631-152 record (.806 winning percentage) with 14 Wisconsin State University Conference championships and 15 trips to the NAIA Nationals in Kansas City. Two times (1972 and 1990) the Blugolds played for a national championship and three other times reached the final four. Stars from the 1972 national runner-up team will be attending as well as players from the other NAIA national teams of 1970, 1971, 1974, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992. |
