Six Blugolds Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors Posted: Tuesday, July 7, 2009 NEW ORLEANS, La. - Six members of the UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team have been selected to the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Track and Field Team, USTFCCCA officials announced today. Making this year's team were Chelsea Becker (Sr.-Rice Lake, Wis.), Beth Easker (So.-Wittenberg, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood), Talisa Emberts (Fr.- Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton), Hannah Humbach (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life), Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) and Maria Peloquin (So.-Prescott, Wis.). The six Blugolds combined for a cumulative grade point average of 3.59, led by Humbach, who currently holds a 3.96 GPA. Five of the six competed at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship this season where the team had their best finish in program history as they took fourth. Three of the six also competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship where they took seventh place. A total of 274 student-athletes representing 91 Division III colleges and universities made up the 2009 All-Academic team. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. - KM - |
