Johnson, who completed his eligibility this season, finished his undergraduate work with a 3.93 cumulative grade point average while majoring in physics/engineering and mathematics. He also earned College Sports Information Directors of American/ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-American honors in June. During the indoor track and field season, Johnson picked up a national title in the weight throw with a school record distance. The winning toss was also almost six feet better than the second place finisher. The USTFCCCA All-Academic Team was also announced today. Along with Johnson, Tim Braunschweig (Jr.-Mukwonago, Wis.) was named the team. Only 186 Division III student-athletes from around the nation received recognition on the team this season. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. - KM - |
