Johnson Earns Academic All-District Honors Posted: Thursday, June 4, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - For the second year in a row, UW-Eau Claire men's field member Sam Johnson (Sr.-Deer Park, Wis./Amery) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 5 Men's Track and Field/Cross Country First Team College Division. Johnson, who secured a national title at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship in the weight throw, wrapped up his senior season with a 3.93 cumulative grade point average. He majored in math while also receiving a dual degree in engineering and physics. Johnson is now eligible for CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American honors. To be eligible for selection to the All-America team, a student-athlete must receive first team All-District honors. Last season, Johnson received second team All-American honors. - KM - |
