Men's Golf Announces Team Awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire head men's golf coach Jim Maguire recently announced the team award winners for the 2008-09 season.
Ryan Grip (So.-Wausau, Wis./East) picked up most valuable player honors this season. He led the Blugolds with 77.9 strokes per round as he competed in every event the Blugolds competed in. Grip had the best finish for the Blugolds at three tournaments and recorded two second-place finishes this spring.
Earning most improved honors was Jimmy Hutchings (Fr.-Hudson, Wis.). Last fall he competed in just one event but was on the course for each tournament this spring. He recorded his best finish of the season at the Blugolds' spring invite as he tied for fifth. For the season he averaged 79.8 strokes per round.
K.R. Rucker (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) was named Freshman of the Year. He was second on the team with 78 strokes per round and took fourth place in two tournaments this season.
