Frederick Leads Women's Track And Field At Championship Posted: Friday, May 22, 2009 MARIETTA, Ohio - Brittany Frederick (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) took second in the discus throw to lead the UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team on the second day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship at Marietta College. To record her All-American finish, Frederick picked up a toss of 46.74 meters (153-4), four feet behind the winner from UW-Oshkosh. Amy Morse (Sr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) also secured an All-American finish in the event after taking fifth with a distance of 45.52 meters (149-4). Hannah Humbach (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) and Hayley Suckow (Jr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) both secured All-American finishes today as well. Humbach broke a school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she finished fifth in 10:33.46. The previous school record was 10:44.20, set in 2004 by Melissa Wright. Suckow also took fifth today, with a height of 3.82 meters (12-6.25) in the pole vault. In preliminaries today, Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) won her 400-meter dash heat with a time of 56.35 to secure her way in to tomorrow's finals. In the 800-meter run, Maria Peloquin (So.-Prescott, Wis.) finished with a time of 2:16.05 but did not advance to the finals in the event. Currently the Blugolds sit in third place as team at the championship, which will conclude tomorrow. - KM - |
