Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Takes Sixth At NCAA Championship Posted: Saturday, May 16, 2009 Eau Claire, which finished with 1,306 strokes at this year's championship, took 13th a year ago with 1,305. Methodist University won its 10th consecutive Division III title with 1,257 while UW-Stevens Point came in second with 1,282. Gustavus Adolphus College took third with 1,297, Southwestern University finished fourth with 1,298 and Otterbein College was fifth with 1,303. Methodist's Susan Martin won medalist honors for the second year in a row. She finished with 294 strokes in the 111-golfer field. UW-Stevens Point's Jessica Urban finished second with 297. Torie Ives (Jr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) led the Blugolds with 79 strokes today and 314 overall as she tied for sixth. Last year, Ives tied for 37th with 323 strokes. Katie Maurer (Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) finished with 327 strokes and tied for 27th while Emily Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, Wis.) tied for 42nd with 331. Tying for 64th with 337 was Lauren Gault (Fr.-Shorewood, Wis.) and Katie Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) finished 81st with 347. This was the ninth consecutive season the Blugolds appeared at nationals. This year's finish was the best since 2006 when they took fifth. Eau Claire's best finish came in 2005 when it tied for third. |
