Kooistra Leads Women's Track And Field In La Crosse Posted: Thursday, May 14, 2009 LA CROSSE, Wis. - For the second time this season, Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) broke the 56-second mark as she went on to win the 400-meter dash at the UW-La Crosse Last Chance Qualifier tonight. Kooistra, who set a school record in the event earlier this season with a time of 55.12 at the Kansas Relays, completed the race tonight with a time of 55.77, more than a second faster than the rest of the field. Her time was an NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifying time. Eau Claire also took home two second place finishes. Brittany Frederick (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) and Chelsea Becker (Sr.-Rice Lake, Wis.) both secured NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks in the discus throw and triple jump, respectively. Frederick recorded a toss of 45.02 meters (147-8) while Becker leaped 11.74 meters (38-6.25). In the 800-meter run, Maria Peloquin (So.-Prescott, Wis.) finished third with a time of 2:12.98, a championship provisional qualifying time. The 4x100-meter relay team also took third with a provisional qualifying time of 48.14. The Blugolds will be back in action tomorrow when a group travels to Rock Island, Illinois for the Augustana Last Chance meet. - KM - |
