Women's Track And Field Competes At Madison Twilight Posted: Saturday, May 9, 2009 MADISON, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team continued its preparation for the NCAA Division III Championships as it competed in its second to last meet this season, the Madison Twilight, hosted by UW-Madison today. Brittany Frederick (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) led the Blugolds at the meet as she took first with a toss of 43.74 meters (143-06) in the discus throw, finishing more than a foot ahead of the rest of the field. A number of Blugolds also took second place at the meet. Chelsea Becker (Sr.-Rice Lake, Wis.) finished second in the triple jump after recording a distance of 11.65 meters (38-2.75), the second best leap in the conference this season. The 4x100-meter relay team of Amy Bachinski (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.), Jordanne Greenup (Fr.-Fridley, Minn.) and Talisa Emberts (Fr.- Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) took second with a time of 48.37, also the second best time in the conference this year. In the 100-meter dash, Alyssa Reindl (Sr.-Oostburg, Wis.) picked up a second place finish with a time of 13.55. Maria Peloquin (So.-Prescott, Wis.) finished second in the 800-meter run after finishing with a time of 2:15.87, the third best time in the conference this season. All finishes but Reindl and Peloquin's were NCAA Division III Championship provisional qualifying marks. In the pole vault, Hayley Suckow (Jr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) reached an NCAA meet automatic qualifying height of 3.83 meters (12-6.75). Her mark was one of the best in the nation this season. Up next the Blugolds will have one final meet before the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship in Marietta, Ohio in two weeks. This Thursday Eau Claire will compete at the UW-La Crosse Last Chance meet. - KM - |
