Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Softball Headed Back To NCAA Championship Posted: Monday, May 4, 2009 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the fourth year in a row, the UW-Eau Claire softball team will compete in the NCAA Division III Championship, NCAA officials announced today. The defending national champion Blugolds earned an at-large bid to the 59-team tournament after finishing in fourth place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-La Crosse won the conference's automatic qualifier to the tournament and UW-Whitewater also made it in as an at-large selection. Eau Claire and Whitewater will be at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. this weekend for the first round of the tournament while La Crosse will head to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. In addition to Eau Claire, Whitewater and Illinois Wesleyan, other teams competing in the Illinois Wesleyan regional are Alma College (Mich.), Coe College (Iowa), Concordia University (Wis.) and St. Norbert College (Wis.). With the Blugolds earning a No. 5 seed, they will face the No. 4 seed Coe College at 10 a.m. Thursday (May 7). The loser will move on to face UW-Whitewater at 4 p.m. the same day.
