Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf In Second At Home Invite Posted: Saturday, May 2, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The 10th-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's golf team placed second in the first round of play today at the Blugold Pre Division III Championship Invitational held at the Wild Ridge Golf Course. The tournament, which is the second tournament hosted by the Blugolds this season, has 11 teams with 59 golfers competing. After the first day competition, second-ranked UW-Stevens Point leads the pack with a total stroke count of 340. Eau Claire is in second place with 345 strokes while Central College (Iowa) is in third place with 349. Eau Claire's second team placed sixth overall on the day with a stroke count of 376. On the individual side, Sarah Paulson of Central climbed to the top with a score of 78, only five strokes above par. Jessica Urban of UW-Stevens Point came in second with a score of 80 while Eva Downes of Central came in third with a score of 84. Four Blugolds finished tied for 10th or better. Lauren Gault (Fr.-Shorewood, Wis.) led the Blugolds with an overall fourth place finish and a score of 85. Katie Maurer (Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) and Emily Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, Wis.) both are both tied for fifth overall with scores of 86, while Torie Ives (Jr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) is tied for 10th with 88. Katie Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) is tied for 28th with a score of 96. For Eau Claire's second team, Sara Mattes led her teammates with a score of 90, tying for 16th place. Play will wrap up for the Blugolds tomorrow at the Wild Ridge Golf Course. The first tee time will be 8:30 a.m. - KM - |
