Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Defeats La Crosse Posted: Friday, April 10, 2009 WHITEWATER, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team secured its ninth consecutive victory with a 6-3 win over UW-La Crosse today. The Blugolds are now 23-7 on the season while La Crosse drops to 8-10. This is the third year in a row the Blugolds defeated the Eagles by a score of 6-3 and their fifth straight win over the Eagles in the last five seasons. On the singles side, Kevin Fawcett (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Verona) and Eric Wollum (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) allowed just four points as they won 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Chris Kuna (Fr.-Edina, Minn.) picked up a victory at No. 4 singles, winning 7-6, 6-4 while Steve Lantz (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) won 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1. In doubles competition, Lantz and Phil Loprinzi (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won 8-5 in the No. 1 spot while the duo of Kuna and Lars Olson (So.-De Pere, Wis.) won by the same score at No. 2. Tomorrow the Blugolds will be back on the courts for two more matches. They will take on UW-Whitewater at 9 a.m. and follow that with one against UW-Oshkosh at 1 p.m. Both matches will be contested in Whitewater. Eau Claire-La Crosse Box Score - KM - |
