Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Picks Up Two Wins Posted: Saturday, April 4, 2009 EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated the College of St. Catherine (Minn.) 8-1 and UW-Stout 9-0 at the YMCA Tennis Center today. The Blugolds improve to 15-6 in dual meets this season. Stout dropped to 3-9 and St. Catherine fell to 4-7. Against St. Catherine, the Blugolds only dropped a No. 5 singles match. Megan Born (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) allowed just one point as she won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. In the No. 1 spot, Gina Dahl (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) took the match 6-3, 7-5, while Erin Welch (Jr.-Tomah, Wis.) won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Michelle Reinders (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) picked up a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win at No. 6 and Brenna McCormick (Jr.-Greendale, Wis.) used a super-tiebreaker to win in the No. 3 spot, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. The Blugolds also swept the doubles competition with Dahl and Courtney Lynne (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) winning 8-4 at No. 1. McCormick and Welch won 8-5 in the No. 2 spot, while Emily Hiebl (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Alli Kishaba (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) picked up an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles. In singles against UW-Stout, Lynne and Reinders both won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Born won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and McCormick won 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. Dahl picked up a 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 win at No. 1, while Welch won at No. 4 by retirement. In doubles competition, Dahl and Lynne recorded an 8-0 win at No. 1 while Kishaba and Born won 8-1 in the No. 3 spot. McCormick and Welch won 8-2 at No. 2. The Blugolds will be back on the courts on April 25 for their alumni weekend. They will then head to Whitewater May 2 for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Automatic Qualifier Tournament, where the winner will advance to the NCAA Division III Championships.
