Swimmers And Divers Wrap Up Season At Nationals

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the season today on the final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Minnesota.
Women's swimmer Angie Bakula (So.-Appleton, Wis./West) and men's diver Bryan Dykstra (Sr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick) both recorded 12th place finishes to lead the Blugolds.
Bakula set a school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle, as she finished with a time of 17:10.24. Kirsten Lickel (Fr.-Madison, Wis./East) also competed in the event and finished in 26th place with a time of 17:50.52.
In the three-meter dive, Dykstra led the Blugolds with a score of 422.35 as he finished 12th. Ken Ritt (Jr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick) was also on the boards and took 20th place with a score of 375.05. Both totals were achieved in preliminaries as neither made it to the finals.
