Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Kicks Off Spring In Arizona Posted: Wednesday, March 18, 2009 BUCKEYE, Ariz. - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team opened its spring season today with a second place finish out of four teams at the Dutch Desert Shootout at Sundance Golf Course. Grand Canyon University (Ariz.) took first with a total of 321 strokes while the Blugolds finished with 331. Southwest Minnesota State finished third with 360 strokes and Central College (Iowa) totaled 362 to take fourth. Torie Ives (Jr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) led the Blugolds as she took second place overall with a +6 score of 78. She finished just three strokes behind the winner, Jennifer Lutz from Grand Canyon. Taking fifth overall was Emily Swift (Onalaska, Wis.) with 81 strokes. Jamie Hauser (Fr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) finished with 84 strokes overall to tie for seventh place. Katie Maurer (Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation), who won individual medalist honors last fall at the conference championship, tied for 10th overall with 88 strokes. The Blugolds will next compete in Waverly, Iowa at the Wartburg Spring Invitational on April 4th and 5th. - KM - |
