Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Bounces Back With Close Win Posted: Thursday, March 19, 2009 HILTON HEAD, S.C. - After falling twice yesterday on its spring break trip, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team bounced back with a 5-4 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (N.C.) today. The Blugolds improve to 15-7 on the season. In a closely contested battle, the Blugolds came out on top after splitting singles matches and winning two out of three doubles competitions. Eau Claire dropped matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles but won the other three. While Kevin Fawcett (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Verona) won by default at No. 5, the other two matches were very close. Chris Kuna (Fr.-Edina, Minn.) picked up a win at No. 4 with scores of 6-1, 4-6 and 10-6 while Dirk Van Rybroek (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Edgewood) won in the No. 6 spot with scores of 6-2, 4-6 and 17-15. On the doubles side, Steve Lantz (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) and Phil Loprinzi (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won 8-3 in the No. 1 spot while Lars Olson (So.-De Pere, Wis.) and Kuna won 8-2 at No. 2. The Blugolds will wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow with a match against Nazareth College (N.Y.) at 8 a.m. Eau Claire/Lenoir-Rhyne Results - KM - |
