Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Falls Twice In Hilton Head Posted: Wednesday, March 18, 2009 HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team took a step back on its spring break trip today, dropping its first contest of the week. The Blugolds fell 6-3 to Rhodes College (Tenn.) to open the day and also dropped a match 8-1 against Denison University (Ohio) later. Eau Claire falls to 14-7 overall while Rhodes improves to 7-2 and Denison moves to 4-2 on the season. The doubles team of Steve Lantz (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) and Phil Loprinzi (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) were the only Blugolds to pick up double's wins today, taking an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 spot against Rhodes. Loprinzi also won his No. 3 singles match 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 against Rhodes while Kevin Fawcett (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Verona) also recorded a victory in the No. 5 spot against Rhodes, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5. Chris Kuna (Fr.-Edina, Minn.) was the only Blugold to secure a win against Denison. He won a close No. 4 singles match 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 10-5. Eau Claire will next face Lenoir-Rhyne University (N.C.) tomorrow at noon. - KM - |
