Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Defeats William Smith Posted: Tuesday, March 17, 2009 ORLANDO, Fla. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team won its third straight meet today with an 8-1 victory over William Smith College (N.Y.). The Blugolds improve to 12-6 overall while William Smith falls to 3-1. Last season the Blugolds lost to William Smith 6-3 in Orlando. Eau Claire swept singles competition and lost only at No. 3 doubles today. In single's play, Brenna McCormick (Jr.-Greendale, Wis.) allowed only three points as she won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot. Michelle Reinders (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 while Emily Knudson (Fr.-Delano, Minn.) won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Courtney Lynne (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) also won with a score of 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 and Megan Born (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) won at No. 2 singles 6-7, 7-6, 10-7. Gina Dahl (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) competed in a close match at No. 1 singles but came up with a 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 10-3 win. Dahl and Lynne won in the No. 1 double spot 9-7 while McCormick and Emily Hiebl (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) won by the same score at No. 2. Eau Claire will compete in one more meet Thursday to wrap up its spring break trip.
