Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Suckow Leads Women's Track And Field At Nationals Posted: Friday, March 13, 2009 TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - On day one of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, Hayley Suckow (Jr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) led the Blugold women with an All-American finish today.
Amy Morse (Sr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) finished just short of earning All-American status in the weight throw. She took ninth place with a distance of 16.01 meters (52-6 1/2). SUNY-Fredonia's Julia Hopson won the event with a toss of 18.25 meters (59-10 1/2). Only the top eight finishers in events gain All-American honors. In the prelims of the 400-meter dash Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) had the fourth fastest time (57.44) and moved on to the finals, which will be contested tomorrow at 1:55 p.m. Brittany Frederick (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) will compete in the shot put tomorrow at noon while Mary Palmer (Sr.-Anoka, Minn.) will race in the 5,000-meter run at 2:55 p.m. Kooistra will also be joined by Laura Broner (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial), Talisa Emberts (Fr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) and Maria Peloquin (So.-Prescott, Wis.) to compete in the 4x400-meter relay in the championship's final event, scheduled for 3:40 p.m. Saturday. Suckow took third place in the pole vault with a height of 3.86 meters (12-8), while three others also finished with the same height. The height was the best of the season in Division III, three centimeters shy of a school record for the Blugolds. Rachel Secrest of North Central College won this year's title.
