Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Two Wrestlers Earn NWCA Scholar All-American Honors Posted: Friday, March 13, 2009 CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - UW-Eau Claire wrestlers Andy Johnston (Jr.-St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and Andy Miller (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) have recently been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a Scholar All-Americans. To be eligible for recognition, a wrestler must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and either be a national qualifier with at least a .500 overall record, finish fourth or higher at a qualifying tournament and hold a .500 record for the season, or have a .670 overall record and competed in at least half of their team's scheduled events. This is the second year in a row Miller earned the honor. This year Miller finished with a 27-7 overall record and took third at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. He currently holds a 3.27 GPA. Johnston, who has a 3.63 GPA, finished the season with a record of 27-9. He had the Blugolds' highest finish at the conference championship, taking second place overall. The NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Association Honor Committee selected the NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Scholar All-Americans during the NCAA Division III National Championships last weekend. - KM - |
