Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Set To Compete At Nationals Posted: Monday, March 9, 2009 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team will be well represented at the 25th annual NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships to be held at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. this Friday and Saturday, NCAA officials announced today. A total of eight Blugolds will compete in a total of six events. Last year the Blugolds finished in 11th place at the indoor championship while they took third the season before. Liz Kooistra (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn.) will participate in the 400-yard meter dash. She recorded the fourth best time in the nation on February 7 as she won the Stevens Point Invite with a time of 57.29. She also won the conference title in the event on March 1 with time of 57.48 as the team took second place. Last season at the national championship she took second place with a time of 56.27. Kooistra will also be joined by Laura Broner (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial), Talisa Emberts (Fr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) and Maria Peloquin (So.-Prescott, Wis.) to participate in the 4x400-meter relay. The team took third place at the WIAC Championships while its best time came this past Saturday at the Pointer Last Chance meet, finishing in a time of 3:56.38, the sixth fastest time in the nation this year. Last season at nationals, the 4x400-meter relay team finished in seventh place with a time of 3:56.38. Mary Palmer (Sr.-Anoka, Minn.) will also compete at nationals in the 5,000-meter run. She won the conference title in the event this season but her best time of the season (17:23.03) came on February 14. The Blugolds will also have three field members competing this weekend. Hayley Suckow (Jr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) was selected to compete in the pole vault, Brittany Frederick (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) in the shot put and Amy Morse (Sr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) in the weight throw. - KM - |
