Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Tennis Splits To Open Spring Posted: Saturday, March 7, 2009 ROCHESTER, Minn. - In two days of competition, the UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team lost to St. Olaf (Minn.) 5-4 Friday before bouncing back to pick up a 7-2 win against Cornell College (Iowa) today. With the split, the Blugolds are now 9-5 on the year. In the first day of competition against St. Olaf, the Blugolds' singles picked up two wins in six matches. Gina Dahl (Jr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) notched a 7-5, 6-4 win in straight sets at No. 1 singles, while Erin Welch (Jr.-Tomah, Wis.) posted a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 10-3 marathon victory No. 4 singles. On the doubles side, the No. 2 duo of Brenna McCormick (Jr.-Greendale, Wis.) and Welch grabbed an 8-3 win and the No. 3 team of Megan Born (Fr.-Antigo, Wis.) and Alli Kishaba (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) took home the 8-5 win. In day two's competition against Cornell College, Eau Claire won five out of six sets. In the No. 5 spot Michelle Reinders (So.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) shut out her opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and Courtney Lynne (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) followed that up with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own in the No. 6 matchup. On the doubles side, the Blugolds were equally successful, posting two wins in three matches played. McCormick and Welch picked their second win in as many days with an 8-1 win. Emily Hiebl (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Kishaba were also victorious at the No. 3 spot with a 8-1 win. Next up for Eau Claire is their spring break trip next weekend. - KM - |
