Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Two Swimmers & Two Divers Selected To Nationals Posted: Friday, March 6, 2009 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be represented by two swimmers and two divers at this year's NCAA Division III Championships in two weeks in Minneapolis, Minnesota, NCAA officials announced today. The Blugold women headed to the championship are swimmers Angie Bakula (So.-Appleton, Wis./West) and Kirsten Lickel (Fr.-Madison, Wis./East). Men's divers Bryan Dykstra (Sr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick) and Ken Ritt (Jr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick) also received invitations to the national championship. Bakula, who set a conference championship meet and school record as she became the conference champion in the 1,650-yard freestyle two weeks ago, will compete in the 200, 500 and 1,650-yard freestyles while Lickel will participate in the 200 and 400-yard individual medleys and the 1,650-yard freestyle. Dykstra and Ritt will both compete in the one and three-meter diving events. Last season Dykstra competed in both events. This is his third appearance at the national meet overall. In 2005 he earned All-American honors in both events. The championship will commence March 18 and will run through the 21st. Competition will take place at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. - KM - |
