Women's Basketball Receives Two All-WIAC Selections

MADISON, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire women's basketball players Heidi Arciszewski (Sr. -Thorp, Wis.) and Heather Witt (Sr. -Kendall, Wis./Royall) have been selected to this year's All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today.

Arciszewski is a three-time first team member while she earned honorable mention recognition her freshman year. She leads the Blugolds this season with 14.3 points per game which also ranks fifth in the WIAC. Arciszewski also leads the team and is seventh in the conference in rebounding with 6.3 per game. She also ranks in five other statistical categories in the conference this year. Currently Arciszewski is ranked fifth on the Blugolds' all-time career scoring list with 1,404 points, 13th on the rebounding list with 533, 11th on the assists list with 276, 15th on the all-time steals list with 144 and first on the all-time minutes list with 3,386.

Witt was selected to the first team for the first time in her career. Last year she made the honorable mention list and was also selected to the All-Defensive team, which she once again was recognized on this season. Witt led the team and conference with 95 assists and 98 steals, while also averaging 12.5 points per game, ranked seventh in the WIAC. She is sixth on the Blugolds' all-time steals list with 248 and 14th on the all-time assists list with 267.

Pam Kaye (Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis./Brookfield Central) earned All-Sportsmanship team recognition, which recognizes individuals who display exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. Kaye has played in 23 games so far this season, starting one.

The Blugolds will be back in action tomorrow for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blugolds enter the post season tournament with a record of 23-5. Eau Claire will face DePauw Friday at 6 p.m. in Bloomington, Illinois and the winner will move on to the second round of the tournament Saturday night.
