Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Beyer Leads Men's Basketball On All-WIAC Team Posted: Thursday, March 5, 2009 MADISON, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire men's basketball player Dan Beyer (Sr. -Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) has been selected to this season's All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today. This is the second year in a row Beyer made the first team while he received honorable mention status in 2007. He led the Blugolds in scoring and rebounding this season with 14.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, which also ranks 10th and third in the conference, respectively. He ends his career ranked eighth on the Blugolds' all-time scoring list with 1,550 points. Ryan Shea (So.-Duluth, Minn./East) was selected as an honorable mention recipient this year. Shea was second on the team with 13.3 points per game and led the team with 45 steals. Mark Tiefel (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Immanuel) was also recognized by the conference on the All-Sportsmanship team, which recognizes individuals who display exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. Tiefel saw action in 25 games this year, starting one. The Blugolds completed their season with a 15-11 overall record, taking fifth place in the conference with an 8-8 record. The 15 wins represents their most wins since the 2002-03 season while their fifth place finish was the best since the 2000-01 season. - KM - |
