Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track & Field Finishes Fifth At WIAC Championship Posted: Sunday, March 1, 2009 MENOMONIE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team took fifth place out of nine teams at the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships today. The Blugolds finished with 85 points. Last year the team took sixth at the championship with 68.5. La Crosse captured its eighth consecutive conference title, finishing with 141.5. Stevens Point took second with 135.5, Oshkosh was third with 121 and Whitewater finished fourth with 94.5 points. Sam Johnson (Sr.-Deer Park, Wis./Amery) earned Field Performer of the Meet honors as he won the weight throw. His throw of 19.48 meters (63-11) beat his previous national-leading throw of 19.31 meters. Johnson also took fourth in the shot put yesterday with a distance of 15.64 meters (51-3 ?). The 4x400-meter relay team of Justin White (Jr.-Arcadia, Wis.), Tim Braunschweig (Jr.-Mukwonago, Wis.), Nate Kelly (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) and Pat Mackin (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy) finished in second place behind Whitewater with a time of 3:22.21. Whitewater won the event with a time of 3:22.15. In the 55-meter dash, Frankie Adams (Sr.-Burnsville, Minn.) took third place with a time of 6.44 while Justin Janke (Jr.-Black River Falls, Wis.) was fourth with a time of 6.50. Janke also earned recognition on the WIAC's All-Sportsmanship team, which recognizes individuals who display exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. Next Saturday the Blugolds will be in Stevens Point for a last chance meet. Events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. - KM - |
