Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wirtz Leads Men's Track & Field At WIAC Championship Posted: Saturday, February 28, 2009 MENOMONIE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team is currently in fourth place out of nine teams after the first day of the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. Oshkosh is in first place with 43 points and Steven Point is in second with 40. La Crosse sits in third with 37 while Eau Claire has 35. Whitewater is right behind the Blugolds with 33.5. Chris Wirtz (Jr.-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) led the Blugolds with a first place finish in the 5,000-meter run. He finished with a season-best time of 14:51.48. Eau Claire also had two second place finishes in preliminaries. Frankie Adams (Sr.-Burnsville, Minn.) took second in the 55-meter dash with a time 6.43. Last season Adams took seventh in the finals of the event. In the 200-meter dash, Chris Kupfer (Sr.-Germantown, Wis.) finished with a time of 22.49 to take second. The distance medley relay team finished third today with a time of 10:18.51. Last year the Blugolds took fifth in the event. The WIAC Championships will conclude tomorrow with action getting underway for the men at 11 a.m. - KM - |
