Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Posts Shutout Against Minnesota state Posted: Friday, February 27, 2009 MANKATO, Minn. - Picking up its third win in a row, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team posted its fifth shutout of the season, this time coming against Minnesota State-Mankato 9-0 at the Mankato Tennis Club. With the win, the Blugolds move to 10-4 on the season. In singles competition, Eau Claire won five of the six matches in straight sets, while posting shutouts in two sets. One shutout came from No. 4 seed Chris Kuna (Fr.-Edina, Minn.), who beat Adam Doll 6-1, 6-0. It was Kuna's fourth straight victory. The second shutout was in the No. 6 singles match up, where Dirk Van Rybroek (Fr.-Madison,Wis./Edgewood) defeated Dan Zastrow 6-0, 6-2. The win was Van Rybroek's fourth in five matches. The doubles competitors posted three wins, one of which came by way of shutout. The No. 2 team of Lars Olson (So.-De Pere, Wis.) and Kuna posted an 8-0 win against the duo of Marco Vasquez and Doll. The win was Olson and Kuna's third win in a row as a pair. Overall, the Eau Claire doubles teams outscored its opponents 24-7. The Blugolds will look to make it four in a row tomorrow against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.). This will be Eau Claire's final competition before traveling to Hilton Head, South Carolina for spring break and is scheduled to begin at noon. - CL - |
