Two Earn All-WIAC Men's Hockey Recognition

MADISON, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire men's hockey forward Sean Garrity (Sr. -North St. Paul, Minn./North) and defenseman Greg Petersen (Sr. -Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) have been selected to this year's All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team, league sports information director Matt Stanek announced today.

This is the third year in a row Garrity has been selected as a member of the All-WIAC first team. Garrity led Eau Claire this season with 26 points. He tied for second on the team with 14 assists and 12 goals.

Petersen, a two-time first team All-WIAC selection, finished fourth on the team with 13 assists on the season. He also had five goals for 18 points overall. Petersen was part of a defense that allowed only 661 shots in 27 games while the Blugolds had 964.

Goalie Tyler Brigl (Jr.-Eagan, Minn.), forwards Joe Bluhm (Jr.-Red Wing, Minn.), Brant Marple Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) and Jesse Vesel (Sr.-Hibbing, Minn.) also received honorable mention recognition. This is the second time Brigl and Vesel were honorable mention selections.

Brigl started 24 games for Eau Claire this season, playing more than 1,400 minutes between the pipes. He finished with a 2.50 goals against average and had 536 saves, accumulating a .901 save percentage.

Vesel finished second on the team with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists), Bluhm was third with 20 points, including a team-high 14 goals, and Marple tied for fourth on the team with 18 points (four goals, 14 assists).

DJ Clark (Jr.-Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) was also selected to this year's All-Sportsmanship team, which recognizes individuals who display exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.
